Strasburg Emporium

Some of us are always on the hunt for something unusual or recalled from our past. Vintage signs, rare coins, upcycled cigar boxes-now-purses … What’s your pleasure? The odds are certainly in your favor for finding whatever is just out of your reach … when you know where to look. These seven stops will get you started on your quest, but they’re certainly not the end of the road. The Valley is known for many, many antique and upcycled shops, so please proceed from here.

You’d be remiss to skip the largest antique mall in America: Factory Antique Mall in Verona. At 135,000 square feet “and still growing,” you can spend the better part of a day perusing the booths as you walk up and down the aisles in search of your “one thing.”

Warehouse Art Gallery is a hot spot in an historic building in downtown Luray. There are many imaginative decorative arts from found and repurposed pieces. With more than 1,000 items crafted and tooled by 90 artisans, there is much to see!

The Strasburg Emporium has more than 60 dealers spread across 52,000 square feet. Find period furnishings and much more. An interesting note about the Emporium is that it is housed in the old Silk Mill, a family-owned weaving business that dated from the 1930s to the 1970s.

Stumps Old Town Antiques is located in McGaheysville, and while it’s not a big dealer like the aforementioned, their vendors are dedicated to making vignette-type spaces for their wares. Room scenes, if you will. Browse each to see what may be hiding in plain sight.

Voted one of the best antique shops in the Shenandoah Valley, 17 E. Beverly Street Antiques in Staunton features four shops under one roof. Expect to find plenty of mid-century modern, toys, textiles, Victorian, vintage styles, and even pin-ups.

Old South Antiques can be found in the Village of Brownsburg in Rockbridge County, and they’re worth the drive for any lover of 18 th and 19 th century furnishings. Fine paintings, cupboards, wingback chairs … there are so many beautiful items to be found at Old South.

Blue Peacock Antiques is in the heart of the Old Town Winchester pedestrian mall. Peruse their wide variety of timepieces, coins, comics, lighting, and much more. When you’re finished, there’s plenty of dining right outside.

Yesterday Once More is a high-end antique dealer in Lexington. Inside you’ll find furnishings, lamps, art, statues, and other decorative pieces.
