Summer is also the perfect season to hike to one of the Shenandoah Valley’s picturesque waterfalls. The trail to Dark Hollow Falls is shaded by thick forest canopies, providing a cool respite even on the hottest days. Overall Run Falls‘ claim to fame is being the highest fall in Shenandoah National Park. These waterfalls are typically at their most photogenic during spring and early summer. Hikers can often dip their feet in the cool pools at the base of the falls, a welcome treat after a sweaty climb.

The Shenandoah River is a summer hotspot for locals and tourists alike. It’s an ideal waterway for tubing, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. Outfitters offer shuttle service and rentals to make the experience easy and enjoyable. Tubing is especially popular, allowing visitors to float lazily down the gentle currents with friends or family, soaking up the sunshine and the valley’s scenic views.

Altogether, the Shenandoah Valley’s waterparks, waterfalls, and waterways offer excellent summer experiences. Create lasting memories when you enjoy the best of what a Shenandoah Valley summer has to offer.
