National D-Day Memorial
June 6, 1944 was the day that allied forces stormed the beaches of Normandy as part of Operation Overlord in World War II. On that day, Bedford, Virginia lost the most soldiers per capita. They are known as The Bedford Boys. Learn more about them and commemorate the 4,414 lives lost on that one single day when you visit the National D-Day Memorial.
Guided walking tours of the National D-Day Memorial are available daily and last about one hour. A self-guided walking map is also available for those who wish to explore on their own.
