As winter approaches in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, Massanutten Resort is preparing for another season of skiing, tubing, and cold-weather recreation. The 6,000-acre, four-season resort has released new information for the 2025–26 winter schedule, including opening dates, lodging packages, and early-season discounts. Plan now to score the best dates and deals.
Season Outlook
Massanutten’s winter experience is one of the most comprehensive in the Mid-Atlantic. The mountain features 83 skiable acres, 23 trails, seven lifts, and two terrain parks, along with night skiing. For non-skiers, the resort’s indoor waterpark, outdoor ice skating rink, and high-capacity snow tubing hill offer alternatives that require no special gear or experience.
Watch a Slope Cam
Online reservations for slope-use tickets, rentals, lessons, and tubing sessions opened November 1, 2025, for dates beginning December 13. While weather ultimately dictates the season’s start, the resort typically operates from mid-December through mid-March.
Important Dates
Several key dates shape this winter’s operations:
- November 1, 2025: Online booking opened for skiing, snowboarding, tubing, lessons, and rentals.
- December 13, 2025: First date available for pre-booked slope access.
- December 15, 2025 – March 9, 2026: Expected regular-season window for snow tubing.
- Holiday blackout periods: December 23–January 1, January 16–19, and February 13–16 – particularly relevant for lodging discounts and package availability.
