Capon Springs and Farm

It’s a fine time to escape reality for a bit and enjoy time as a family. The Shenandoah Valley is a great retreat from the everyday, making the outdoors super accessible while providing entertainment options and excellent dining. Choose your vibe and get a getaway on the calendar for summer 2025!

A Cabin in the Woods

Seclusion is soooo good for the soul when life is rush, rush, rush. Get into nature to ground yourself, exhale, and slow down. You’ll probably need a solid week to feel the effects.

Cabins We Like

Shenandoah Yurt – Always a fave for families with so many kid-friendly options, a hammock and hot tub for parents to chill out, and top-notch amenities like EV charging. Have a pup? They’re welcome, too!

The Country Place Lodging on the Shenandoah River – First of all, how about that name? Sign us up for riverside accommodations! The Country Place accommodates a family reunion, if you’re looking for such a place. Bunk in the spacious lodge or pitch a tent right beside the river; that’s allowed here! Plenty of amenities await, including a game room and 15 acres you’re welcome to wander. The river is the number one attraction, however, so bring your kayaks, canoes, and tubes to while away your days.

Love Ridge Mountain Lodging – Choose the space and style to fit your family when you peruse the collection of cabins offered by Love Ridge. Bordering the Blue Ridge Parkway, it’s an excellent home base for exploration and sightseeing.

Resorts: Everything You Need is Right There

Really though. You won’t need to leave unless you want to. These three resorts have something for every member of the family and then some, plus dining. It’s almost like being a royal.

We’d Book That

Capon Springs and Farms – All-inclusive, this resort includes your dining with your room rate. You can add an activity or two, if you want, like mineral water spa soaks and services, or a golf cart for your free day of golfing. The kids will enjoy treasure hunts, hikes, and of course, swimming. You will probably enjoy the lack of cell service.

Massanutten Resort – Back in 1998, Brandy sang a song about “sittin’ on top of the world,” and that’s what Massanutten feels like. Choose from a diverse range of accommodations to suit families big or small, then get ready for the action. At the top of the list for families are the waterpark, the Adventure Park, and chair lift rides, but there’s much more than that to do, even on rainy days. Multiple restaurants and even a farmers market ensure you won’t go hungry.

May 24: ValleyFest

July 3: Summer Jam

August 2: Rock the Ridge

August 30: Labor Day Weekend MASS Bash

The Omni Homestead Resort – This is the classic Virginia mountain resort, as it’s steeped in history. Dress well, dine well, and play well when you retreat to Hot Springs. Enjoy a round of golf, horseback riding, indulgent spa services, flyfishing, ziplining, or even skeet shooting while you’re tucked away in the mountains. Kids love Allegheny Springs, a spring-fed pool with slide and lazy river. No kids in tow? You’ll probably enjoy the kid-free Serenity Garden Pool. For a fun, historic, family adventure, take a dip at Warm Springs Pools between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Kids Eat Free this Summer!
