Cold winter days are great for … oh, who are we kidding? ANY day is a great day for coffee! As you tour the Shenandoah Valley, it’s important (very important) to know where to find a great cuppa. Daily fuel. Joe. Java. Liquid Energy. From north to south, these are a few of our faves. Enjoy!

Front Royal

Happy Creek Coffee & Tea is a multi-location, 100% gluten-free café featuring cold brews, pour overs, and coffee on draft. Yep, the happy juice is plentiful at Happy Creek.

Also in Front Royal is Main Street Daily Grind. It’s family owned and operated, which always ensures your experience is top-notch. Inquire about the daily specials, which include a barista’s choice, fresh brews, pour overs, and housemade soups.

Winchester

Espresso Bar & Café is crafting espressos, French Press delights, and fresh brews – hot and cold. Find a cup you like and take home a bag of whole or ground beans. Oh, and don’t forget a slice of homemade pie.

Hopscotch Coffee and Records is old school cool with rare vinyl and everything. If you’re lucky, catch a live performance while you sip something awesome.

Luray

Gathering Grounds Patisserie & Café is a great stop any time of day and for any meal, but for coffee, head straight to the Espresso Bar. That’s where you’ll find fraps, lattes, mochas, and more. And whatever you do, please be sure to try a dessert. Yes, it’s suitable for breakfast, too. You won’t be disappointed!

Broad Porch Coffee Co. can be found in both Luray and Harrisonburg, with Luray being its newest hot spot. We’re certain you’ll love a Broad Porch-roasted coffee and a savory “toast”.

Harrisonburg

Merge Coffee Company has two Harrisonburg locations: Mount Clinton Pike and downtown on North Main Street. While the holidays are fresh, perhaps have a moment of reflection with a Naughty & Nice. That is, “a delightful blend of ginger, lemon and lavender syrup, espresso with steamed milk.” It’s a flavorful splurge for the winter season.

At Black Sheep Coffee, the daily quiche or a fresh scone are excellent companions for Virginia-roasted coffee. Roasters from across the Commonwealth are featured at Black Sheep, as are other local crafters, such as Mt. Crawford Creamery.

Formerly known as Shenandoah Joe, Coffee Hound is a coffee shop for you and your four-legged friend. If you loved Shenandoah Joe, you will continue to love Coffee Hound. The name changed, but the beans and drinks did not.

Woodstock

Woodstock Garden Café offers a seasonal menu of local farm-fresh foods, including warming homemade soups. Beans by Aperture Coffee Roasters (also of Woodstock) means your coffee is also fresh and touched by local craftsmen.

Staunton

Crucible Coffee Roasters is dedicated to community, connection, and hospitality. You’ll find all of that plus excellent coffee at Crucible. For an excellent confection and coffee pairing, hit up Reunion Bakery Friday through Sunday. The Crucible crew is there pouring and crafting, too.

The By & By is an art gallery and cafe serving seasonal concoctions like “Fox in the Snow,” a timely latte of brown sugar, cinnamon, and white chocolate. Yum!

Waynesboro

French Press is a beautiful café with wonderful delights, live music, and space to think. Hunker down with a cup of your drink of choice and enjoy the cozy environment.

Lexington

Lexington Coffee Shop has been a community mainstay for a long time. Grab a sunlit-table by the window to enjoy your coffee. The people-watching is fine, the atmosphere is friendly, and the coffee creations are works of art.

Lexington Coffee Roasters has been called one of the “12 Best Coffee Roasters in the U.S.” and their beans are award-winning. For coffee snobs, this a great place to pop in and try something new. Perhaps the Espresso Giusto? It was a silver medal winner at the Golden Bean North American Roasting Competition three times over.
