2025 marks the 98th anniversary of the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival®.

The Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival® first took place on May 3, 1924, when the City of Winchester, with the support of the Shenandoah Valley Travel Association, hosted its inaugural event. Created to honor the apple industry and highlight the northern part of the Shenandoah Valley, the festival began as a one-day celebration. The event marked the arrival of the beautiful pink and white apple blossoms that adorned the Valley’s agricultural landscape and recognized their economic significance. Apple blossoms have remained an essential part of Winchester’s agricultural heritage and commerce.

Over the years the festival has grown into a 10-day celebration featuring numerous events. While much has changed since 1924, traditions such as the Coronation of Queen Shenandoah, parades, dances, dinners, and luncheons continue to thrive.

Today, the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival® offers more than 50 events, ensuring there’s something for everyone. This year, we’re excited to introduce four new events: the Flying Circus Air Show, the Comedy Show, the Family Fun Party, and the Artisan and Faire. With more than 200,000 visitors from around the world each year, the festival has become a major attraction. Attendees might even spot nationally recognized figures from entertainment and sports, who attend as honored guests. However, the true focus remains on celebrating local civic groups, schools, charities, and volunteers.
