You’re looking for a stunning backdrop for your wedding day. The perfect outdoor venue with a water feature, perhaps. Or maybe it’s rows of vines, the Blue Ridge Mountains, or perfectly tended gardens.

We’ve uncovered eight of the most glorious, indeed storybook, outdoor wedding venues in the Shenandoah Valley. They’re varied in their offerings and setting, but each is well versed in creating dreamy weddings and wedding memories.

Cross Keys Vineyards | Mt. Crawford

Cross Keys is known for its Tuscan villa style, and wedding opulence is key. From the padded Birchwood ceremony chairs to the regal gold Chivari reception chairs, every Cross Keys wedding is a dream. Multiple site options allow flexibility to accommodate the size of your guest list. Catering and wine service are available as well.

Monfair Resort Farm | Crozet

Wildflowers, mountains, a lake … Montfair Resort Farm is a prize for the couple looking for a beautiful, natural setting. Choose your view; the photographer is going to love this venue! When it’s time to party, the large, tented deck and lodge by the lake is a prime choice. Lighted pathways ensure guests have plenty of light while also creating a romantic ambiance.

The Glen Burnie Gardens at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley | Winchester

Seven beautiful acres of formal gardens are a highlight to the historic Glen Burnie House at The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley. Meticulously planned out, the gardens create “rooms” that are perfect for an intimate exchange of nuptials. Look beyond the gardens for additional site ideas. The whole property is magical.

Blandy Arboretum | Boyce

Total natural immersion is the theme at Blandy, the State Arboretum of Virginia, and their large stone amphitheater is a popular venue choice within its boundaries. Tucked away along Dogwood Lane is an inviting grassy area for a smaller, more intimate exchange of vows. Note that Blandy is not available for weddings between May and mid-August. Trust us, the fall is a spectacular season for their weddings anyway.

River’s Bend Ranch | Stanley

The Chicks could’ve been singing about this one. Wide open spaces, beautiful board fencing, horses, a blue mountain backdrop … River’s Bend Ranch offers all the cowgirl or farmer’s daughter vibes you could ask for. Perhaps the best part is that there are on-site accommodation enough for a large part of your guest list. More than 20 bedrooms!

House Mountain Inn | Lexington

Tucked into the side of recognizable House Mountain just west of downtown Lexington, House Mountain Inn and Irvine Estate features a lovely terrace and pond or a large timber frame pavilion for a wedding almost on top of a mountain.

Gaie Lea | Staunton

There are beautiful options at Gaie Lea. Choose from the formal boxwood gardens, glorious green spaces with mature trees, or the well-appointed lakeside pavilion for your wedding day celebrations. This sanctuary feels a world away though it’s very conveniently located to any additional amenities you may need.

The Seclusion | Lexington

Three-hundred-sixty-degree views at The Seclusion will take your breath away. It’s a romantic venue with versatile spaces to host a variety of moments during your big day. The Grand Hall inside the amazing timber frame barn is perfect for a seated dinner or dancing, and separate groom and bridal suites are so comfortable and accommodating your people will feel right at home.
