Like the Bach family in central Germany, the Couperins earned their place as the most accomplished and productive musical dynasty in France over several generations. With this recital, harpsichordist Carsten Schmidt surveys the musical labors of the family, ranging from the 17th-century improvistory preludes of Louis Couperin (1626-1661) to the late Baroque mannerisms of Armand-Louis (who died in 1789).
