Hawksbill Loop
The highest peak in Shenandoah National Park is Hawksbill Summit, and it offers 360 degrees of views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Virginia Piedmont, and Shenandoah Valley. Hikers gain 860 feet of elevation when they tackle the nearly 3-mile moderate circuit. Parking is available at Upper Hawksbill (mile 46.5) and Hawksbill Gap (mile 45.5).
An important note about Hawksbill is the delicate outcrop ecosystem. It is important to remain on the trail. Camping is prohibited.

The closest entrances to reach Hawksbill Summit are Swift Run Gap at mile 65.5 near Elkton or Thornton Gap at mile 31.5 near Luray.
