Humpback Rocks
An iconic and noticeable view along the Blue Ridge Parkway is Humpback Rocks at Lyndhurst. It was so well recognized that it became a landmark for wayfinding in the 1800s.
From the Visitor Center, pick up a one-mile portion of the Appalachian Trail to reach Humpback Rocks. The way out to the Rocks is strenuous and demands about 800 feet of ascent. Thankfully, there are benches along the way if you need to catch your breath.
