Long winter holiday weekends are on the horizon, and Massanutten Resort in the Shenandoah Valley is the perfect destination for family fun in the snow. Overnight accommodations and plenty of dining options mean you won’t need to leave the mountain if you don’t want to. Rest up for the amazing adrenaline and memory-making that awaits!
Snow Tubing
Snow tubing is one of the most popular winter activities at Massanutten, which means you must plan ahead if you want to play. Link up or go solo down 900 feet! Sixteen lanes are at your disposal in 90-minute sessions. Please note that children must be at least 36″ tall to tube.
Best Option: Last-Call Northern Lights Tubing at p.m. is only $25! Offered Monday through Thursday.
Ice Skating
Treat your family to the old-fashioned fun of ice skating. The Rink at Massanutten is the winter alter ego of the Massanutten Fitness & Rec Club tennis court. Don’t know how to skate? There’s an instructor who offers lessons with advanced notice.
Ready for the real adrenaline? The SLOPES are waiting!
Take lessons and get your feet under you in the learner’s area without worry of getting plowed over. Those who already know the ropes will quickly take to the 23 runs across 80 acres. Slope access and rentals should be booked in advance to ensure availability. Sessions are booked as 8-hour, 4-hour blocks, or for night skiing (the coolest, right?!).
Best Option: The Last Chair Special gets you a reduced slope ticket and rentals when you ski from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.

For the Newbs
“Newbs” is the cool, shortened version of newbies, our kids tell us. So if you’re a newbie, a beginner, a novice … here’s a handy Massanutten resource you won’t want to miss: Beginner’s Snow Sports Guide. Bookmark that baby, as it answers the questions you may not know to ask or be slightly embarrassed to ask, like “what should I wear?”. For what it’s worth, we totally would have worn more than one pair of socks had we not read that part of the guide.
So What Now?
Go. Go straight to Massanutten Resort Snow Sports for every bit of information you need to plan a successful weekend of family fun in the snow. It’s your resource for conditions, hours, rates, and more.
