The Virginia Scenic Railway is finally on a roll in the Shenandoah Valley, departing from Staunton and arriving in Ivy in Albemarle County or Goshen in Rockbridge County. It’s a nostalgic way to see the Valley, mountains, and communities, and an experience you won’t soon forget.
Seats are going fast! Don’t miss the fall foliage trips!
The Blue Ridge Flyer routes to Ivy as it passes through Fishersville and Waynesboro before climbing 1,000 feet to pass through the mile-long Blue Ridge Tunnel. The out-and-back trip takes three hours and includes a meal, dessert, and beverage served in a souvenir glass. Upon booking your trip, meal options will be made available for selection.
Blue Ridge Flyer is available Thursday through Sunday with a 3:30 p.m. departure.
The Alleghany Special is just that – a special westward adventure through National Forests toward the Alleghany Mountains on a quest for the quiet community of Goshen. The trip to Goshen and back to Staunton takes three hours and features farmland and beautiful mountain views. Your ride includes the same meal amenities as the Blue Ridge Flyer.
Alleghany Special is available Thursday through Sunday with a 10:30 a.m. departure.
SAVE THE DATE
If you’ve ever dreamed of a Polar Express train experience, the Shenandoah Valley finally has it! December will feature “Santa Trains” – a shorter ride experience perfect for families with little ones. Monitor VirginiaScenicRailway.com for more information.

Excursions will proceed as scheduled regardless of weather, but on the off chance that weather conditions are too treacherous, a gift card for a future trip will be issued.
Due to the historic nature of the train cars, ADA accessibility is not yet available, though strides are being made to rectify and meet that demand for 2023.
