Warm temperatures are all the invitation you need to go al fresco with your food and drink. These are a few of the Shenandoah Valley wineries with great patios for spring sips.

Wineries with a Restaurant

The Tuscan Villa style of CrossKeys Vineyards in Mount Crawford is complete with an expansive terrace featuring views of the vineyard. Purchase a bottle inside to enjoy outside or enjoy a small plate, salad, or handheld via The Bistro at CrossKeys. Frankly, we’re not sure which is most compelling: the wine, the menu, or the view. However, we’re confident it’s a great decision to find yourself on the terrace at CrossKeys soon.

Incredible mountain views are all yours from the deck at Muse Vineyards in Woodstock, a dog-friendly winery in the Shenandoah Valley. Muse offers a daily menu as well as brunch and Sunset Supper. Their views and wine pair ever so well with everything on the menu. Sunset Supper is offered Thursday and Fridays from 4 to 8 p.m. Deck and veranda reservations are available if you don’t want to take the risk of losing your seat.

Wineries with Light Fare for Purchase

The outdoor seating goes on and on at Cave Ridge Vineyard in Mt. Jackson. Choose your favorite bottle or two to share over hummus and chips on the deck or in the courtyard. Your leashed pup is welcome to join you. Children are also welcome, but Cave Ridge is a working farm and attentiveness to your child is expected for both their safety and the courtesy of other guests.

Barren Ridge Vineyards in Fishersville is situated on an old apple orchard. Be sure to ask about the history of the land while enjoying a flight of their award-winning wine. Rolling pastures at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains make for a stunning sunset backdrop on their covered patio. Purchase a cheese plate to enjoy with a glass or bottle of wine. If you time it right, there may be a musician to keep you entertained.

Freshly baked breads, cheeses, and meats are available for purchase with your wine at James Charles Winery & Vineyard in Winchester. Their stone patio is spacious with seating arrangements that allow for both privacy or a small group of friends to share memorable moments.

Pick a seat on the sun deck from which to enjoy your Lexington Valley Vineyard snack basket and wine. Located in Rockbridge Baths, Lexington Valley offers views of western Rockbridge County. They are open Saturdays and Sundays from noon until 5 p.m.

Cheers to great views, excellent wine, and warmer weather!
