Virginia’s only regularly scheduled tourist train excursion departs from Staunton.
Climb aboard the Alleghany Special or the Blue Ridge Flyer, both part of Virginia Scenic Railway, to enjoy a three-hour narrated ride complete with a seasonal meal and dessert. Along the way you’ll learn the history of rail transportation in the area, its longevity in “last mile” delivery service, and about the communities, landmarks, and farms that can be seen from your window. These excursions are excellent ways to learn a bit of history, do something unexpected, and create a lasting memory to share with others.
