Cooter's Place in Luray, VA

Who doesn’t love an anniversary? Kick up your heels for 25 years of Cooter’s Place! A special 25th anniversary celebration will be held July 19-21, 2024 at Cooter’s in Luray, Virginia. It’s a free event featuring some of the most beloved characters of the 1980s television series “The Dukes of Hazzard”.

On the series, Ben Jones played the role of Cooter, a mechanic and owner of Hazzard County Garage. Jones owns Cooter’s Place – a Dukes of Hazzard museum, souvenir shop, and diner – with locations in Luray, Virginia and Nashville and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

Jones said his impression of the visitors who stop by Cooter’s is that they have “a deep affection for the basics of country living and an appreciation of family and of the basic values that our show stood for. Those values of fair play, of doing the right thing, and of making the right moral choice even when it might be risky are values that reflect the best of our nation and our people.”
