Spring wildflowers are at the heart of Shenandoah National Park’s 40th annual Wildflower Weekend, May 2-3, 2026. Guided hikes and programs will focus on the diversity and importance of not only hundreds of species of flowering plants that are protected by the park, but other seasonal changes as well.
Guided hikes include the Snead Farm, the Gravel Springs Gap, Brown Mountain Overlook, as well as walks focusing on the spring birds and amphibians.

Learn what to do when the “what ifs” of your outdoor adventures turn into the “now whats”. This course will teach you the best items to take on any outdoor adventure and how to best use them in a survival situation. Led by the Shenandoah Mountain Guides. Reservations required.
- Cost: $175 per person.
- Includes a $20 meal voucher redeemable in the Spottswood Dining Room, Terrace Seating, or New Market Taproom upon completion of the event.
- Reservations required and full payment due at booking. Book online or call 877-847-1919.
- Minimum age: 12 years
- Event will take place in all weather conditions excluding thunderstorms.
