The Shenandoah Valley Travel Association (SVTA) is a private, non-profit membership organization founded in 1924 to promote the tourism assets of the Valley to the world. SVTA members make up a 200-mile region from Martinsburg, Berkeley County, WV, following the Shenandoah River from Harpers Ferry, Jefferson County, WV - along historic Rt. 11 and Interstate I-81 to Roanoke/Salem, VA. The region includes several Virginia Main Street Communities such as Winchester, Luray, Harrisonburg, Staunton, Waynesboro and Lexington, Virginia. The Counties of Highland, Bath and Alleghany to the west complete the region represented by the Shenandoah Valley Travel Association and held together by the love of history, culture and geography.
The Shenandoah Valley lies between the Blue Ridge Mountains to the east and the Allegheny Mountains to the west. The Valley runs the western length of Shenandoah National Park. The park offers 200 acres of protected land, stretching 105 miles from Front Royal to the Waynesboro area. Skyline Drive is the national scenic byway that takes you through the national park; there are four entrances (and exits) to Skyline Drive. Connecting from the south, the Blue Ridge Parkway offers another 100+ miles of dramatic scenery through our southern gateway communities, down to Roanoke/Salem.
The SVTA is comprised of over 250 Valley attractions, lodging establishments (including hotels, motels, country inns, bed & breakfasts, and campgrounds), as well as restaurants, travel-related services, tourism offices, convention and visitor bureaus, and city, county, and town governments.
In addition to producing the official Shenandoah Valley Travel Guide on-line and in print, the SVTA also manages the official Shenandoah Valley Web site - VisitShenandoah.org and the VisitSkylineDrive.org websites.
The Association has a number of cooperative marketing opportunities and programs available to members, and we are always introducing new initiatives in which to become involved. Get more information on SVTA Programs here.
Please consider joining our ever-growing family of organizations dedicated to working together to promote the Shenandoah Valley and their individual businesses and communities. The SVTA membership, guide listing and on-line presence is more powerful than a print ad, more visible than a google ad and works on your behalf year-round.
