River and Trail Outfitters is one of the oldest year-round outdoor adventure companies in the Mid-Atlantic region. We are licensed by the Department of Natural Resources and are members of America Outdoors and the Professional Paddlesports Association. After three decades, River and Trail remains a family-run operation built around an experienced staff, which offers a wide variety of adventure trips in Maryland, WVa, and Virginia. The area offers opportunities for paddling, fishing, and white-water raft trips.

We offer guided and instructional white water rafting, tubing, kayaking, canoeing, climbing, biking, hiking, and cross-country skiing trips in the historic and scenic Harpers Ferry area. Our river trips and lessons take place on the Potomac and Shenandoah River, as well as Antietam Creek. The world-renowned Appalachian Trail and C&O Canal towpath provide hikers and bikers with an escape route into the woods. We do customized trips on other creeks and rivers for groups of 20 or more.

In addition, we have an excellent outdoor store featuring Perception, Dagger, and Wilderness Systems boats as well as offering canoe rentals, kayak rentals, tube rentals, bike rentals, and canoe and kayak instruction. River and Trail also has a 24' portable climbing wall for team-building exercises which can bring unique fun to your birthday party, festival, corporate event, or other special occasion.
